6th Annual Angiosarcoma Awareness 5K: Saturday, May 14th
About the Event
Sat, May 14, 2016 @ 9:00am
497 Main St Oxford, MA 01540
The purpose of this race/walk (and virtual race option*) is to raise awareness and money to fund Angiosarcoma research. We are currently funding research for treatment methods for this aggressive and fatal cancer at our laboratory at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NY City and we have partnerships with labs at the University of Minnesota, the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, FL., Washington University in St. Louis, MO., and at the MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center at the University of Texas. Please visit www.cureasc.org to learn about this rare disease, those affected by it, our research, and how you can help.
This is a great family event with lot's of activities for kids, all of which are supervised by our adult volunteers. The Kids race starts at 9am and the 5K will begin at 9:30. Race day registration will begin at 7:30 (t-shirts cannot be guaranteed for race day registrants. Online registration is highly encouraged). The kids race occurs before the 5K so that parents can cheer for their young racer's. After the kids race, those racing or walking in the 5K move to the start line while kids play games, tumble in the bounce house, have their faces painted, or do arts and crafts. Food will be available along with music and other entertainment during the duration of both races. Water is provided on the course and all entrants receive a t-shirt and a race goodie bag. We also have numerous raffles that you can participate in and for the last five years, we've had Sox, Pat's, Celtics, or Bruins tickets to raffle!
And, as an added bonus, running legends Dick and Rick Hoyt are scheduled to make a very special appearance for a third year in row!
Whether you're an athlete looking to compete or someone who prefers a leisurely spring walk with friends and family, this race has something for everyone. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a great morning in Oxford, MA. while supporting a great cause.
*Virtual Race option: Can't be in Oxford, MA on May 14th? No problem! You can still participate by registering for our Virtual Race. Join us in spirit while running in your own neighborhood, on a treadmill, or anywhere or way you can and we'll mail you your shirt and goodie bag.
