The first annual Don’t Tell Me to "Slow Down” 5K run/walk will occur on Oct 22nd, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, NC to benefit the National Stuttering Association (NSA) and raise awareness about stuttering. We invite you to participate in this important cause on International Stuttering Awareness Day.
The NSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing hope and empowerment to children and adults who stutter. NSA provides their families and related professionals support, education, advocacy, and research opportunities. Funds donated to the NSA are used for research, education, and scholarship.

Entrants in the 5K have a choice of entering as a timed or untimed entrant. Timed entrants will receive an official time and be eligible for awards. Un-timed entrants will not receive official times but will be able to view their time on a digital clock at the finish.
The entry fee is $25 ($30 after October 1st), with a "stutter discount" of $5. One can also enter as a virtual runner for $20 ($25 after October 1). The entry fee includes a t-shirt with sizes guaranteed if registered by October 10th. After that date, shirts will be "as available."
Awards will be given to the top three men overall and to the top three women overall and to the top finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 10-under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over.
Pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets and late entrants can register at Capital RunWalk on Saturday, October 21, from 2-4 pm. Capital RunWalk is located at 430 Woodburn Road in Cameron Village in Raleigh. Two people will be awarded a gift certificate to Capital RunWalk in a drawing limited only to those who stop by during the packet pickup hours to either register or to pick up their packets.
Pre-registered entrants can also pickup up their packets and late entrants can also register at the race site beginning at 7:30 on race day morning.
