Overview

This will be the foutrh year for the Cary Academy 5K (formerly known as the Cary Academy Charger Derby 5K ) which is held at Cary Academy in Cary, NC.  The race is run entirely on the school campus which is located at 1500 North Harrison Avenue in Cary. The race starts at 9 am.  There will be two water stops on the course.

Over 330 runners and walkers entered this event in 2018 with Charles Bibery capturing the overall honors in 18:10.  Emma Astrike-Davis won the female title in 19:01 setting a new course records for the women. The men's course record is by Ryan Laytham (17:12), set in 2016.

Awards will be presented to the first three males overall, to the first three females overall and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups(both sexes): 9-under, 10-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-over.

Volunteer Opportunities for Cary Academy 5K
 
The past runnings of the Cary Academy 5k were very successful thanks to the generous support of the Cary Academy student, parent, and employee volunteers.
 
On Saturday, May 5, the 5k run/walk and Expo will again be hosted on Cary Academy's beautiful campus. The race, which begins at 9 AM, is organized to appeal to runners and walkers of all ages and levels. The course is an out and back which begins and finishes on the Cary Academy track.
 
We are offering a wide range of opportunities for student and parent/employee participation and involvement. Please review the sign up genius for Parent and Employee Volunteers or for Student Volunteers to view the volunteer options.
