I've posted the ride for Saturday at 9:30. It's a 71 mile ride that returns within 3 miles of the start at 38 miles making for a 41 mile option. Weather looks OK with any rain holding off until later in the day.
My name is on the list but I will be keeping a close eye on the weather. I would love to get one more long ride in before Boulder but I think it's much too close for me to risk it if the weather looks dicey. Anyway just an FYI. I'm really hoping things hold off Saturday morning.
I currently have five riders for Saturday. We're meeting at the Red Hat Parking garage on E. Cabbarrus St. in Raleigh at 7:15 am and will take the minimum cars needed to Vista Point on Jordan Lake. I hope to leave the lake around 8 am and be back in Raleigh for lunch about noon.
There's still time to add more riders - I'll just need to figure who is driving out to the lake in the morning and back there after lunch.
I'm still planning on riding the Raleigh 70.3 Bike course on Saturday, May 5th. Only one other person is currently signed up. Please let me know this week by email or by registering if you plan to ride. Please also indicate how many bikes and passengers you can carry as we'll have to drop half the cars in Raleigh before riding and head back to the Lake afterwards to retrieve vehicles.
We may divide into two groups if there is a wide variance of riding speed.
Will plan to eat lunch in Raleigh before returning for cars.
The rain has stopped, but temperature probably won't get into the 40's until nearly noon. My cold got worse overnight, so I'm going to cancel the ride. I'll do an easy 90 minutes on a trainer and if I feel good may ride a little more outside this afternoon.
Planned ride will be 40 miles total on an out and back course. If everyone in attendance wants to do 50, we'll ride another 5 miles before turning around. There's a 30% chance of showers with decreasing probability through the morning. So look for an update by 8 am. Temperature should be in the high 40's to 50, but dropping precipitously in the afternoon.
Thanks for the ride coach. I had a great time. I checked the SR bike course online again and they list a total 3166 elevation gain for the 112. According to my Garmin we did 3369 today. So yeah I'd say SR is gently rolling at best.
